Civil forums nationwide 2018

In March 2018, local meetings were organized again by members of Civilization on the occasion of the Week of Participation to continue the 2017 fall tour. The main goal of the experienced organizations leading the meetings in Pécs and Debrecen was to demonstrate the skills needed for effective civic work, such as fundraising, communication, advocacy and network development. After the launch panel, tips and tricks from Greenpeace, the Civil College, NIOK and the School of Public Life, among others, could be learned in small-group conversations.

The goals of the November 2018 forums were to build relationships, get to know each other directly, gather ideas, and inspiration. It was an opportunity for smaller and larger local civic groups to meet each other in person and informally, as well as with organizations with a national scope in Budapest. Representatives of the Roots and Wings Foundation, NIOK, Greenpeace Hungary, HCLU, Civil College and Transparency International Hungary, among others, brought their examples and presented good practices from the basic elements of CSO operation, such as fundraising, communication and community advocacy. Large and small group discussions let everyone to ask questions that interested them, to learn from ideas and suggestions. In Szeged, this was complemented by a roundtable discussion entitled "Citizenship and Civic Activism in Szeged", with the participation of the Motivation Workshop, the Csongrád County Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired, the Szeged Lutheran Parish, the MIGSZOL Szeged Group, the Szeged LGBT Community Representatives of the MASZK Association.
